Why Choose Me as Your Counsellor?

Step into a space that reflects both professional expertise and lived experience — a space rooted in compassion, authenticity, and understanding. As a BIPOC Registered Clinical Counsellor with over 16 years in the behavioural sciences, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside individuals, couples, and families navigating some of life’s most challenging transitions.

My own journey — from overcoming perfectionism and self-doubt to finding balance and belonging — allows me to connect deeply with those who are learning to do the same. I understand how personal growth can be uncomfortable, and I’m here to help you move through that discomfort with care and confidence.

My Roots and Cultural Perspective

Grounded in modest immigrant beginnings and the values of community, compassion, and hard work, I bring a culturally attuned perspective to therapy. Growing up in a traditional Sikh Punjabi household shaped my understanding of intergenerational expectations, identity, and belonging — themes that often surface in therapy.

If you’re seeking someone who truly understands intergenerational trauma, cultural identity, and family dynamics, I offer a safe and relatable space. I also provide counselling in Punjabi and Hindi, helping clients express themselves fully and feel deeply understood.

My Professional Path

My career began in preschool and special education, eventually evolving into clinical counselling — a field where I found my true calling. I hold both a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in Clinical Counselling, and I continue to see myself as a lifelong learner and advocate for growth and healing.

In recent years, I have specialized in couples and family therapy, drawing from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to help people rebuild trust, navigate conflict, and rediscover emotional connection. I also work with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, stress, and chronic pain, using a blend of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and trauma-informed approaches.

Beyond the therapy room, I contribute to the profession by serving as a panel assessor for Master’s counselling students at City University, evaluating clinical oral competency. I also hold a certification in Introduction to Clinical Supervision, furthering my commitment to mentorship and ethical practice.

My Approach to Therapy

At the heart of my practice is a Person-Centered and Trauma-Informed approach. I believe that when clients feel seen, heard, and supported without judgment, true healing begins. Together, we’ll explore not just where you are today, but how your past and patterns may be shaping your present.

I integrate a range of modalities including:

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

Family Systems Therapy

Mindfulness and Somatic Approaches

Trauma-Focused Therapy

I’m often described as a “homework therapist” — meaning our work doesn’t end when the session does. Each week, I provide practical tools, reflections, or exercises designed to help you integrate insights into daily life. As one client shared, “You’re the first counsellor I’ve seen who actually followed through with a treatment plan — I felt like I finally made progress.”

At Wellness Talks Health Centre, we combine emotional exploration with goal-oriented therapy — helping you move from awareness to meaningful, lasting change.
